The Podcast -

The Initiative Show is a round table discussion about all things nerd. We are a group of writers, musicians, creative types, and fanboys based in the Chicago area. We discuss comic books, movies, t.v., video games, sci-fi/fantasy, zombies, Nazis, Nazi zombies, and so forth. At present, we are a monthly podcast. But if you want more, we’ll give it to you. (That’s what she said.) Our esteemed founder, Maui Jones, created the Initiative as a way to “get mad womens!” Little did he suspect that geeky podcasts tend to undermine that endeavor. Alas.

The Website -

The Initiative website will feature not only the podcast but also articles, blogs, a message board, and various forms of media. We are hoping to help promote independent artists so if you have a project that you think would appeal to our audience, let us know. We’d be happy to feature you on our site or maybe even have you as a guest on the show.

The Initiative :

Maui (Kamau Jones) – Founder of the Initiative. Is he man, myth, or level 5 wizard who speaks the language of the unicorns?

J (Jay Tallungan) – Our Video Game Guru. Also a local Chicago musician and producer, owner of Ape Trax Studio.

E-Rick (Eric Lindberg) – Comic Book Expert. Also Review Editor for BrokenFrontier.com and writer for AC Comics’ Femforce.

AVP (Amanda Pavlich) – Movie Maven. Has a history in broadcasting, working for various Chicago radio stations.

Mandy G (Amanda Good) – T.V. Correspondent. Also has a history in broadcasting (and a possibly incestuous relationship. Eek, scandal!).

K-Dog (Kaidrea Stockman) – Our Webmaster, Designer, and #1 Fan. Created this awesome site. She has a cat and an Iphone.

Betsy Canario – Lead Editor. She’s awesome (and yes, they’re real).

David “Dahveed” Canario – Staff Writer/Blogger. He’s pretty cool (he told me they were real).
